There are 2 de facto consumer standards in Digital Audio:

  • Hi end. 96kHz. FLAC - lossless codec with average compression rate 1.5x

  • Lo end. CD (44.1 kHz) and MP3/AAC (48 kHz) - lossy codec, with average compression rate 10x

 

Spiral-Signal audio codec prototype works in uncovered by lossy codecs area of 96kHz (96, 192) and offers both:

  • a) nearly lossless quality (over -90 dB)

  • b) Conversion rate starts from 2.5x
