Changing how signalling is built today
Most Image codecs apply standard signal processing techniques: DCT (JPEG) and DWT (JPEG2000).
JPEG is the most used format for storing and transmitting images in Internet. Basic JPEG characteristics are:
-
Very good image compression rate: 10x (with optimal quality parameter)
-
JPEG uses blocks to process image, resulting to appearance of blocking artifacts

Spiral Signal image codec prototype uses own developed algorithm of image signal processing, which does not utilize DCT or DWT methods. Spiral Signal core advantage is that in processed image, some amount of pixels remain unchanged from original image ie transmitted losslessly. Basic Spiral Signal characteristics are:
-
Competitive to JPEG compression estimation
-
Absence of traditional blocking artifacts
-
Linear algorithm complexity
